I’ll get it one of these days.
Way back in 2000, I was doing my internship between my first and second years of B-School at an internet marketing agency. The director of client services came to me because she wanted me to look into this new thing that allowed you to easily post your thoughts online. Sort of an online diary thing. I checked it out and thought, “This is pretty dumb. People could do this with just dreamweaver or any other WYSIWYG web editor and a basic FTP program. This is just another dot com tool that’s going to flame out. I told the director my opinion.
Yeah, it was blogger.com.
Well, I’m feeling the same way about this whole Web 2.0. So far, it seems like Bubble 2.0. Revenue? What revenue? We’ll figure it out later. For now, we just need TRACTION! Del.icio.us, digg, RSS, YouTube, MySpace, I just don’t get it. Am I old and set in my ways since I’ve been doing this stuff professionally since ‘97? Am I offering up the proverbial, “Get off my lawn you pesky kids!”?
Well, I’m not going to get caught with my pants down again! I’m diving in. I may not see the point, but I’m going to learn it.
However, I found an interesting article that is somewhat comforting to me over at Dead 2.0
