Coffee Roasting
For my birthday this year, my wife got me a coffee roaster. She got me the i-Roast 2. Yes, now I can buy the beans green and roast them myself to the level that I like. People have asked me why I would want to do this. Is it a price thing? Well, yes I might save a nickel or two, but that’s not it. It’s the flavor that comes from fresh roasting as opposed to the stuff bought at grocery stores. I can go on and on about coffee the way others do about wine.
I come from a background of wasting time at coffee shops as a California teen and became something of a coffee snob. I absolutely can not stand Starbucks coffee and can’t figure out why people like it so much. The beans are over roasted to the point that it just tastes burnt to me.
So, now when I’m struggling to stay awake due to the lack of sleep that comes with a baby, I can just brew up some Waltham Coffee Company (a dream) coffee!
And I always saw you as a Starbucks man. Hmmm.
Dude you love Starbucks - where is “The Book” on the site?
Starbucks SUCKS. I went there last week for the free cup and still couldn’t bring myself to drink it. I don’t care that they offer the health insurance for their employees. They over-roast their coffee to the point that I think an appropriate snack to go with it would be the ashes from my fireplace.
