I hadn't thought of it that clearly, but you're absolutely right.

From a fighter's perspective, the song precedes you before the crowd ever sees you and becomes attached to you as part of your identity in the eyes of the crowd. I had really only considered it from the selfish point of view of the music that best helps put you in the frame of mind that you desire.

Yeesh. Good thing I opted to not go with Hanson's Mmmbop!

When I read the title of this, it immediately struck me as a Seth Godin style post.

"The reputation you've built for your brand or yourself precedes you. It is the first thing people think of when they see your product or ad.

But you can try to control and craft your brand impression like a fighter chooses his entrance song. What impression does your brand inspire when someone first thinks of it? Are you improvisational jazz, baroque classical, modern county, or muzak?

What's your fighter entrance song?"
